In an evening devoted to discussion of men’s health issues, the following physicians have graciously agreed to come in and speak.

  • D. Nizar Charafeddine will be discussing Stomach and Intestinal Health Issues (40 Minutes)
  • Dr. Pierre N. Khoury will discuss Cancer Awareness for Men (40 Minutes)

Dr. Francisco Loaiciga, MD

Geriatrics Medicine Physician

Dr. Loaiciga graduated from Escuela Autónoma de Ciencias Médicas de Centroamérica, Costa Rica as a general medicine physician in 2005. He practiced general rural medicine, then continued his training in family medicine at Indiana University, followed by training in Geriatrics Medicine at Loyola University in Chicago. He later specialized in hospice and palliative care at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.

Dr. Loaiciga is currently works in Home‐Based Primary Care and is in the process of creating the home‐based palliative care section of his department.

Dr. Nizar Charafeddine, M.D.

Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine

Dr. Charafeddine is a gastroenterologist in Pearland, Texas. He is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and CHI St. Luke’s Health‐Patients Medical Center.

Dr. Charafeddine received his medical degree from American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine and has been in practice for more than 20 years. He is one of 114 doctors at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center and one of 14 at CHI St. Luke’s Health‐Patients Medical Center who specialize in Gastroenterology.

Dr. Pierre N. Khoury, M.D.

Medical Oncology & Hematology
Internal Medicine

Originally from Lebanon, Dr. Khoury can speak English, Arabic and French. He is board‐certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hematology. He received his medical degree from Saint Joseph University Faculty of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon in 1991. He completed his residency at North Shore Medical Center Salem Hospital in Massachusetts. He went on to complete his fellowship in Medical Oncology/Hematology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth in Houston.

Dr. Khoury is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Society of Hematology (ASH) and the Texas Medical Association (TMA). In addition, he currently serves as the Vice President of Millennium Physicians, and in 1999, he was honored with the Fellow Award to Attend ASCO Meeting in Atlanta.
