CHARLES W. DAWSON (w∴m∴ 1996-1997)

Charles William Dawson was born on April 30, 1946 in Pensacola, Florida, moving to Houston shortly thereafter. He was educated in the public school system of the city, graduating from Jesse H. Jones High School in 1964. After graduation, he attended Texas A & M University, where he graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Management.

During the Vietnam War, Brother Dawson served in the United States Army, and received several decorations, including the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart. When discharged in 1986, he had attained the rank of Captain.

He is currently employed with Prentiss Properties, Inc. as a Property Manager.

He is married, and has two daughters.

As a young man, Brother Dawson was a member of the Order of DeMolay, having received the degrees from Park Place Chapter. Because of his devoted service to the Order of DeMolay, he was invested with the Degree of Chevalier in 1964, and as a member of the Legion of Honor in 1992.

Brother Dawson received the degrees of Freemasonry from Jacques DeMolay Lodge No. 1390 in Houston, Texas. He was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on December 28, 1981; passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on September 13, 1982; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on November 11, 1986. He served as the thirty-seventh Worshipful Master of the Lodge for the 1996-1997 masonic year.

Brother Dawson is a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, having received the degrees from the Houston bodies in March 1989. He is a member of the Twentyfirst Degree team, and is also a member of the Sound Committee. For his service and devotion to the Rite, he was invested with the rank and decoration of a Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 1997.
