Thomas Baldwin DeYoung was born on August 25, 1914 in Houston, Texas. He attended the University of Houston, and was a graduate of Southwestern Business University. During World War II, he served as a Staff Sergeant of the 25th Air
Wing, VMD, of the United States Marine Corps, and was a recipient of a presidential citation. He was employed with Quality Electric Steel Casting Company as its Purchasing-Personnel Director, as well as that company’s Secretary-Treasurer.

He was married, and had no children. Brother DeYoung received the degrees in Freemasonry from Park Place Lodge No. 1172. He was initiated as an Entered Apprentice Mason on August 29, 1946; passed to the degree of Fellowcraft on September 30, 1946; and raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason on October 30, 1946. He was a charter member of Jacques DeMolay Lodge No. 1390, and served as its Worshipful Master from 1964 to 1965.

Brother DeYoung was a member of the Chapter, Council, and Commandery of the York Rite.

He was also a member of Chinar Grotto, of the Mystic Order of Veiled Prophets of the Enchanted Realm, for which he presided as Monarch in 1957.

Brother DeYoung was a member of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, having received the degrees from the Houston bodies in April and May 1957. For his service and devotion to the Rite, he was invested with the rank and decoration of a Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in 1965.

Brother DeYoung passed away on July 26, 1968 at the age of fifty-three. He was laid to rest in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Masonic graveside services were performed under the auspices of Jacques DeMolay Lodge No. 1390.
